Position Summary

Northerm Windows and Doors is seeking an intermediate-level Human Resources Recruiter and Administrator to join our growing Administrative team. This role supports the seamless administration of Northerm’s HR programs and services. This individual will act as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries from Employees and internal partners and will play a significant role in the staffing and overall compliance of each department. This position will report into the Controller.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage, in a progressive manner, the HR policy framework;
  • Make suggestions and implement workflow and process improvements. Proactively identify process inefficiencies and inconsistencies and collaborate toward an improved and more productive process that will enhance the overall client experience.
  • Work with managers to identify staffing needs and manage the entire recruitment cycle;
  • Provide sound, ethical, and timely guidance to Managers on employee relations matters including progressive discipline & performance management, attendance, terminations, workplace accommodations, etc.;
  • Onboard new employees by preparing and presenting the information package that includes employee benefits, key company policies; payroll requirements and security/access ID requirements;
  • Build and maintain the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) with employee information including new hire status, position and rate of pay information and ensure security of employee documents and provide reporting and KPI’s as requested;
  • Ability to diagnose problems and lead correction efforts through effective communication and efficient execution;
  • Provide training to Managers and all employees on various HR topics;
  • Other projects and tasks as identified by management.

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or a related field. Equivalent experience will be considered on a case-by-case basis;
  • 5+ years’ progressive experience in a Human Resources department, preferably in an advisory capacity;
  • Head hunting experience
  • Working toward, or holding a CPHR designation considered an asset;
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of Employment Standards, Human Rights, OH&S and other related legislation required;
  • Strong customer focus with exceptional verbal and written communication skills;
  • Proven decision making, problem solving, and time management skills;
  • High level of computer literacy and attention to detail;
  • Demonstrated respect for confidentiality and privacy a requirement.

Position Summary

Northerm is seeking Aluminum Project Workers to join our Commercial team. This opportunity involves assembling and installing commercial and industrial glazing applications and requires experience using various hand tools and equipment

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assemble and install commercial and industrial Glazing applications, prefabricated glass, sealed units, etc.;
  • Install, fit, fabricate and attach architectural aluminum or related products in industrial and institutional commercial buildings;
  • Read shop drawings and transfer it to material;
  • Adhere to safety policies and procedures and represent in a professional manner;
  • Follow all project procedures, safety program requirements, work and equipment maintenance rules.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of secondary school diploma or equivalent is preferred;
  • Comparable industry experiences an asset but not required;
  • Basic carpentry skills with ability to use a variety of tools and equipment;
  • Comfortable working outdoors in any weather conditions;
  • Able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing;
  • Comfortable working safely at heights;
  • Able to analyze information and troubleshoot problems;
  • First aid, lift ticket or fall arrest training considered an asset;
  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic are a must.

Position Summary

We are currently seeking Journeyperson Glaziers to join our Commercial team. This position will report to the Supervisor or Manager of our Commercial division and work with other Installers on various projects in and around Whitehorse. Succession candidates will be required to reside in the Whitehorse area.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assemble, erect and dismantle scaffolds, rigging and hoisting equipment
  • Install, fit, fabricate and attach architectural metals or related substitute products in commercial and residential buildings
  • Prepare and install skylights and other special glass in commercial and institutional establishments
  • Repair and service commercial aluminum doors and other glass supporting structures, and replace damaged glass or faulty sealant
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Site measures and surveys for field dimensions
  • Other related duties as assigned

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Journeypersons require trade certification from a recognized institution;
  • Valid Driver’s License;
  • Willingness and ability to train and mentor junior staff;
  • Aptitude for math, measuring and the use of power/hand tools;
  • Ability to read construction drawings;
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills;
  • Experience working in a construction environment would be an asset

4) Screener Operator Qualifications:

Experience in running all aspects of screening

  • Experienced in operation of loaders and excavators
  • Labor intense at times, must be in good physical condition
  • Have reliable transportation

5)  Pipe Layer Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years Water/sewer pipe experience
  • Reliable and in good physical condition
  • Valid Class 5 DL license and reliable transportation
  • Valid First Aid ticket
  • Valid Confined Space ticket

6)  Labourers Requirements:

  • Willingness to learn
  • Reliable and in good physical condition
  • Valid Class 5 DL and reliable transportation
